Synopsis

Forty years after the Bloom consumed the surface, seventeen thousand souls survive in the Vaults—a sprawling underground city carved from old mining tunnels. Cass Tennant scavenges the upper levels where spores drift through cracks in the concrete, trading her lungs' health for machine parts the city needs. When she finds a sealed door marked with pre-Bloom warnings, she uncovers evidence that the Bloom wasn't natural, and the city's founders knew it was coming. The Council will kill to keep their secret buried. The fungus is evolving, learning to breach the Vaults' defenses. And Cass must decide: expose the truth and watch the city tear itself apart, or stay silent and let everyone die in the dark.
